Engagement sessions provide an opportunity for connecting with your photographer and getting comfortable in front to the camera prior to your wedding day. They allow for a time to teach simple posing, learn about the nuances of your unique relationship and help pave the way to even more successful wedding day images. When planning your upcoming engagement session here is a helpful guide of considerations.

LOCATION
Keep it personal. Take a moment and ask yourselves what feels most authentic to you and your relationship. Choose a location that is special to you; somewhere that stirs fond memories or inspires you. Be creative and keep it real. Engagement sessions can be an ultimate date where I just tag along!
When choosing a location Consider…
• Locations that tell a story or hold a special memory in your relationship
•. Natual beauty and breathtaking backdrops
•. Don’t rule out destination locations…I am available to travel

FASHION
Your fashion choices for your session will help tell your love story. Expressing yourself through your wardrobe choice is not as hard as you would imagine. Pairing your outfit choices to the vibe of your location is the goal. You should plan two to three coordinated wardrobe choices. I offer advice in planning your outfits and can provide some favorite Pinterest boards for inspiration.
Consider…
• Two to three coordinated looks
•. Refined casual, classic chic, metropolitan dressy, timeless formal
•. Accessories

PROPS
Whether your passion is sailing, travling or you pup, props can enhance the shoot and breathe life into a photograph.
Consider….
•. Location-Appropriate Props
•. Boats, cars or animals
•. Keep it authentic to your relationship and what is important to you as a couple

COMMUNICATE
There is no such thing as over-communication! The more your photographer knows about your vision, the better. Do you love more editorial photos? Do you have a soft spot for black and white? Do you need and epic horizontal shot for your wedding website? Are you uncomfortable in front of the camera? Share your Pinterest boards with me! Be specific and tell me your concerns and vision so I can ensure the gallery of your dreams!
Consider…
•. What types of portraits are you most drawn to?
•. What preferences you have when being photographed?
•. What is most important for your photographer to know about you?

HAIR + MAKEUP
Hair and makeup is just as important as your fashion choices. Your engagement session is a perfect opportunity to schedule a trial session with your hair and makeup artist in advance of your wedding day! Having your hair and makeup professionally done is a great way to see how your look photographs in professional images. Film softens your look, so a little more makeup than usual photographs beautifully.

TRUST
Once you have communicated your vision, trust me to capture it. Be in the moment and trust me to do the rest. I will gently guide you into beautiful candid moments while finding the best light, backgrounds and angles. Trust that I will create a stunning gallery that delivers on your vision consistent with my brand. It is an honor to photograph each of my couples and capturing images you can share with generations to come.
